The UNO Mavericks baseball team has recently kicked off conference league play, and are off to a pretty decent start.

After a rough past weekend against the Western Illinois Leathernecks, the Mavs still find themselves tied for second place in the Summit League standings.

The Mavericks are currently 15-13 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Head coach Bob Herold says even with this rough weekend the team needs to keep their head up and keep their momentum into next week.

“Yeah we had a good start last year too.  That momentum is big in athletics, we gotta keep that going, if we can, and we didn’t.”

The Mavericks will take on the Huskers Wednesday night at 6:35 at Werner Park.  Then they will travel to Brookings, South Dakota to take on South Dakota St. this weekend for a 3 game series.
