The Omaha News
Fans of both Tottenham and Arsenal gathered March 5 at 6:45 a.m. to watch the North London Derby.
The fierce rivalry has been celebrated at this bar for a few years now, but with the title race including both teams heating up, there was much more at stake this time around.
With that added pressure, both supporters groups decided to do a canned food drive benefitting the Sienna Francis House.
The response was nothing short of special. Both sets of fans arrived promptly 30 minutes early with donuts and coffee to share. The cans donated came in by the hundreds, which surprised many people including Omaha Hotspur Chairman Ryan Sewell, who says both groups helped in coming up with the idea.
“We talked to the Omaha Gooners and decided to do a food drive benefitting the Sienna Francis House,” said Sewell.
The morning was enhanced by the fact that both teams fought neck and neck to provide a spectacle for the gathered fans.
Everyone in attendance agreed that the food drive could happen again and maybe grow into something bigger.
