The University of Nebraska Omaha will sponsor “Monday Night at the Movies” at Midtown Crossing this summer.

The free nine-week movie series is in its sixth year and will run from June 6 through July 31. Turner Park opens at 5 p.m., and all outdoor movies will start at sunset on the 26-foot outdoor inflatable screen.

“Our 2017 schedule is packed with some of the biggest hits of recent time and some of the most beloved classics of all-time,” Molly Skold, Midtown Crossing’s vice-president of marketing and communications, said in a press release today. “It is going to be absolutely fantastic seeing families and friends come down, relax and spend some quality time together.”

The 2017 movie series also features a special night in partnership with Film Streams, Omaha’s non-profit cinema and a brand-new Student Choice Night. This is the second year-in-a-row both UNO and Film Streams have partnered with Midtown Crossing to enhance the popular summer series.

“We are so excited to once again be able to bring Monday Night at the Movies to Midtown Crossing,” Emily Poeschl, director of marketing at UNO’s Office of University Communications, stated in the release. “We like to say that Omaha is our campus, and this series is such a fun and positive way for us to connect with the community that we serve.”

Film Streams Deputy Director Casey Logan said, “It was truly a special thing to watch an 80-year-old Chaplin classic (Modern Times) in the park last summer. This year, we’re hoping as many people as possible turn out to enjoy The Wiz. We appreciate the work Midtown Crossing does to stage the series and the support of the University of Nebraska at Omaha that makes it happen.”

Chicago Dawg House will have its food truck on-site for those who would like to buy dinner in the park. Midtown Crossing offers three hours of free garage parking. On-street parking is also free after 9 p.m.
