UNO extended Earth Day into Earth Week. The celebration, with a focus on sustainability, took place April 20 through April 26.

UNO’s commitment to sustainability is always on display with its efforts as a Tree Campus USA, car- and bike-sharing programs and Mammel Hall, the University of Nebraska’s first LEED Gold Certified Building.

The university continued this display with a kick-off on Earth Day in Elmwood Park where volunteers handed out flower seeds. Throughout the week, events included a chance to learn about zipcars, free potted plants from Maverick Productions, recycling drop off sites and bike maintenance. Student Government gave away 500 reusable water bottles and continued a three-year tradition of planting a new tree on campus.
