Cross Country finishes 5th in Summit League Championship
The Omaha cross country team wrapped up their season over the weekend, finishing fifth in the Summit League Championship. Karo Garcia was the star once again for UNO, leading the Mavericks with a time of 23:25.90 in the 6K, good for 27th overall. Paula Gutierrez came in second for UNO and 30th overall with a time of 23:45.19. Rosie Gensichen, Alyssa Averhoff, Avery Schmidt, Shae Spady, Alyssa Thavenet and Lauren Houston also ran for the Mavericks, contributing to their fifth place finish, ahead of IUPUI, Western Illinois and Oral Roberts. Omaha is back in action on Nov. 13 for the NCAA Regional in Lawrence, Kan, their first appearance in NCAA competition as a Division I school.
Women’s soccer concludes regular season with home loss
The Maverick women’s soccer team ended their regular season with a 1-0 Senior Night loss to Denver. Despite bringing an aggressive at-tack early, UNO was unable to find the net and gain momentum. After a scoreless first, Denver’s Riley Welch scored the lone goal in the 62nd minute. With the loss, Omaha finishes its season at 5-11-2 overall and 2-6 in the Summit League. The Summit League Conference Tournament begins on Nov. 5 in Brookings, South Dakota.
