The selfie museum has made its way to Omaha.

After traveling to larger cities and experiencing selfie museums herself, owner Aja Anderson was inspired to take her experiences into the Omaha community.

“To see such amazing photos created by everyday concepts and to have access to a variety of sets at one time in one space was fascinating,” Anderson said. “With the number of tourist events Omaha hosts each year, I thought it would give visitors and locals a taste of big city family-friendly entertainment.”

The Selfie Spot opened to the public on Jan. 2, 2021 in the heart of the historic Benson neighborhood. Their mission to serve and support the Omaha community is fulfilled by utilizing all local businesses and artists for set designs and contracted work.

“We make it a point to hire from the community we serve and uplift other small businesses, particularly other small Black-owned businesses,” Anderson said.

Like other local businesses and artists, The Selfie Spot has seen less traffic than expected due to the pandemic. However, Anderson expects to see a slight increase in ticket sales as the weather continues to change.

Being a full-time healthcare professional herself, safety is a priority. Selfie Spot follows all direct health measures communicated by the city and state officials. They also sanitize frequently touched items after each party and require a mask to be worn while navigating the sets.

“When guests walk into The Selfie Spot, they can expect a high energy, interactive experience with over 20 different sets to capture their best selfie and level up their social media feeds,” Anderson said. “Our selfie squad will be around to provide tips, pointers and assistance capturing your best angle.”

Guests can book by visiting or walk-in, though there is limited availability. The final booking for the night is one hour prior to close. The hours are Thursday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Prices are $20 plus tax for adults and $15 plus tax for youth ages 12 and under. UNO students can use discount code SELFIE for 10% off. Guests are expected to take as many photos as possible using their own personal cell phones and/or cameras as well as the 18-inch ring lights and other various interactive props provided by The Selfie Spot.
