Screenplay contest

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Johnny Carson School of Theater and Film is calling for entries for the University of Nebraska Comedy Short Screenplay Contest.

All faculty, students and employees of UNO, UNL, UNK and UNMC are invited to enter.

Screenplays must be a comedy, 15-20 pages in length. The story setting must be Nebraska, or something that could be filmed in Nebraska. The screenplay must have four or more major roles for actors 18 to 25 years old.

Three finalists will be selected to receive $500 in cash and have the opportunity to consult with an established Hollywood screenwriter to improve their piece, prior to the selection of the grand prize winner.

The grand prize winner will receive an additional $500 as well as have their screenplay produced by the Johnny Carlson School of Theater and Film.

Entries must be submitted by March 1. There is no entrance fee.
