In its first year at Baxter Arena, the Claussen-Leahy Maverick Run broke several records over the weekend. The event was attended by more than 2,700 runners, an increase of over 700 from last year.

The event, which included a 10k, 5k and 5k walk, also raised more than $100,000.

An 800 meter Kids’ Race led off the morning event.

The Maverick Run started as the UNO Women’s Walk in 1986 as a fundraiser for women’s athletics at UNO. The money will support UNO student-athletes through scholarships and program enhancements.

Runners were cheered along by UNO student athletes, athletic department staff and UNO faculty.
