The Omaha basketball team recorded its second victory over a Big Sky conference opponent on Sunday, topping Montana State, 100-97. With the game tied at 97 and 2 seconds remaining in the game, Devon Patterson sunk a game-winning three as time expired. Omaha improved to 4-4 on the year with the victory.
Omaha came into the game leading the Summit League in points per game (86.9), field goals made per game (30.4), rebounds per game (42.1) and steals per game (9.7). Junior guard TraDeon Hollins also came in first in assists (44) and steals (29).
Devon Patterson led the Mavericks with his 7th 20-point game in his time at UNO. The senior guard finished with a career-high 41 points. TreShawn Thurman contributed 20 points and nine rebounds. Patter-on’s and Thurman’s 20 point game was the first time UNO had two scorers above that mark since Nov. 22, 2014 against Marquette.
Despite being slightly out-rebounded, Omaha took a 15 point lead into halftime with Patterson, Thurman and Jackson all in double figures.
Omaha blew a late 96-90 lead, al-lowing Montana St. to tie it up at 97 apiece with 20 seconds left. Patterson’s buzzer-beating 3 lifting Omaha back to .500 on the year at 4-4.
By the end of the game, Omaha out-rebounded Montana St. 36-35 and had twice as many steals.
Omaha returned to play on Dec. 6 as they continue their road trip at Missouri for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
