The Native American Studies and the Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition will sponsor “Hoops For Life,” a three-on-three basketball tournament from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the HPER building.
Tuesday, Nov. 9
Flute Player Ken Little Hawk will perform from 6:30 to 9 p.m. in the MBSC Nebraska Room for “An Evening of History and Music with Ki’kMaq.” The event will provide free food and is part of a month-long calendar of activities and performances celebrating Native American Heritage Month.
Through Friday, Nov. 19
Maverick PR, the UNO Public Relations Student Society Association, will host a backpack drive for Youth Emergency Services beginning Thursday, Oct. 28 until Friday, Nov. 19. The goal of the drive, “Say YES: Give Back with a Pack,” is to distribute 100 backpacks filled with necessities for Omaha’s homeless youth ages 13 through 18. Items especially needed are hygiene products, stocking caps, gloves, boxers, socks, non-perishable food and first aid products. Donations can be dropped off in the bin inside room 140 (the Department of Communication offices). Cash and check donations are also being accepted.
