The UNO men’s golf team was back on the course for just the second time in a month in a rain-soaked Wichita Falls, Texas last Tuesday. The Mavs posted a team score of 308, putting them in a four-way tie for seventh with Rogers State, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Northeastern State.
Arkansas Tech’s score of 298 was first among 19 teams. Cameron and host Midwestern State finished tied for second at 300.
UNO golfer Karl Krieser led the Mavs with a score of 74. The freshman from Millard North started his round with a 36 on the first nine holes.
Krieser’s 74 was good enough for ninth place overall. It was the freshman’s second straight tournament in which he posted the lowest UNO score.
Feb. 28 in Peoria, Ariz. Krieser finished with a 164, sixth place at the Quintero Invitational hosted by North Dakota State.
The trio of Mitch Johnson, Taylor Sidzyik and Alex Holtan were all second for UNO with scores of 78. Johnson finished with the Mavs’ second-best score for the second tournament in a row.
At the Quintero Invitational, Johnson was just behind Krieser with a 165, good enough for eighth place.
Johnson, Sidzyik and Holtan also finished tied for 39th overall. Michael Shukis posted the remaining Mav score, an 82.
