The University of Nebraska at Omaha men’s soccer team defeated Drake University Friday night 3-0, led by Fazlo Alihodzic who finished with a goal and a pair of assists.
The Mavericks got things started early scoring in the second minute of the game off a Seth Rinderknecht header that found the back of the net. Alihodzic had the assist after nailing a corner kick right to Rinderknecht. The 1-0 lead held through the first half until Alihodzic added a goal of his own after intercepting a pass and dribbling down to score.
Alihodzic found Emmanuel Hamzat in the penalty area where Hamzat scored to make the game 3-0, where it went final.
Omaha’s Joseph Ghitis earned the shutout after making three saves on the night. Omaha and Drake each had seven shots on the night with Omaha leading on shots on goal 4-3. The Bulldogs never even got a shot on net in the first half.
Omaha was back in action Saturday against crosstown rival, and Maverick head coach Jason Mims old team, Creighton.
