Four firsts for Maverick track

The UNO track team placed first in four events at the Prairie Wolf Invitational at Nebraska Wesleyan last Friday.
Katarina Zarudnaya finished first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.48. Team mate Catherine Davison recorded a new personal best of 2:22.41 and completed the race in seventh place.
Senior Sammi Spenner was responsible for UNO’s other three first place finishes, winning the triple jump, 60 meter dash and 200 meter dash. Her 60 meter dash time was a new personal record, and four tenths of a second off from the school record at 7.53.
The Mavericks also saw action this week at the Kansas state invitational where they saw one first place finish and a number of personal bests.
Katarina Zarudnaya held the only first place finish for the Mavericks in the mile with a time of 4:59.67. Team mates Lindsey Bruns and Kristin Rodgers both set personal records and finished eighth and ninth respectively. Ashley Kildow finished the 800 meter run in second place with a time of 2:19.55.
“The race went well, but I tripped up a couple of times, so that’s why I didn’t get first,” Kildow said. “Everyone did great though. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for us.”
Catherine Davison and Jackie Mezick both set personal records in their 1000 meter run and Claire Cunningham and Emily Moore had personal bests in the 800 meters.
The Mavericks will be back next Friday at the Jack Jennett Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa, which will begin at 1:30 PM.
