Chancellor John Christensen’s State of the University speech had a heavy focus on enrollment management. UNO is working to increase student enrollment to 20,000 students by 2020.
Christensen also addressed athletics and their move to Division I. Christensen said while the decision to cut football and wrestling programs was “personally painful” this was the first time in 11 years the athletic department closed the fiscal year in the black.
Christensen wrapped up by talking about what’s next for the university. Finishing a capital campaign and continuing to work on increased enrollment are some top priorities for the coming year.
