Head coach Jeanne Scarpello earned her 500th career win as the eighth-ranked UNO softball team ended the Southeastern Oklahoma State Invitational with a pair of wins Sunday.
The UNO softball team ended a road trip to South Carolina and the Coastal Carolina Invitational taking two of three over the weekend. The Mavericks defeated St. Peter's 7-1 and lost to Coastal Carolina 5-0 on Friday, then defeated Dartmouth 5-1 on Saturday.
The UNO softball team is off to a 22-3 record in 2013, the best start since 2002 and the best mark in the Summit League. Though the Mavs have yet to play a home game, UNO is already two wins away from matching their win total from 2012.
How have the Mavs been so successful? Look no further than the group of young talent assembled by Head Coach Jeanne Scarpello.
After dropping the first game of a doubleheader 3-0 to North Dakota at the Great West Conference Cluster on March 25, UNO head softball coach Jeanne Scarpello had had enough. It was the second time the Mavs had been shut out on the weekend and UNO had scored just 11 runs in five games.
