In 2012, the women's golf team had only done as well as a ninth place finish at the IPFW Spring Classic on April 2. For most of the season, UNO finished tournaments outside the top 10.
The men's golf team had a busy weekend competing at the Hotels at Grand Prairie Invitational Friday and Saturday in Peoria, Ill., then returning to Nebraska for the Midland Invite in Fremont on Monday. Though it might have been a busy travel schedule, the Mavs didn't show it on the course.
The women's golf team completed a three-round event at Bradley with their worst score of the weekend, a 346 in the final round to finish 10th out of 10 teams.
The UNO men's golf team took fifth place at the Beu/Mussatto Invitational hosted by Western Illinois Tuesday afternoon. The Mavs finished with a team score of 909 after posting 308 in round three.
Melissa Doerr finished with a two-day score of 163 to lead the UNO women's golf team to a 14th place finish at the Saluki Invitational at Southern Illinois. The Mavs finished the tournament with a combined team score of 666.
The UNO men's golf team was back on the course for just the second time in a month in a rain-soaked Wichita Falls, Texas last Tuesday. The Mavs posted a team score of 308, putting them in a four-way tie for seventh with Rogers State, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Northeastern State.
Despite wind, drizzle and temperatures hovering in the low-40s, the UNO golf team prevailed at the MIAA Championships last Tuesday in Kansas City, Mo. With the win, the Mavs close the book on their time in the MIAA with their third conference title in as many years.
