One of the biggest questions facing President Barack Obama since the Democrats' Election Day shellacking was whether he'd still have that "Yes We Can" charisma that energized people around the world. Apparently, in India, the answer is yes.

 


Girl Talk to bring dance party to Sokol

I'm still having flashbacks of the last encounter I had with Gregg Gillis, aka Girl Talk. It was a biting cold January 9, 2009 at Slowdown, and the recently immortalized Pennsylvanian DJ was in town to host one of his famed electric dance parties. I wasn't sure if the hype surrounding him was "all that," but I quickly learned that Gillis does indeed throw one hell of a party.

 


Fashion shows collects donations, toys for needy children

Theatrics, fashion, music and more will all come together on the Friday night with Toyland, a theatrical fashion show created with the United States Marine Corps, Neb. Division.

The national campaign collects and distributes toys through Toys for Tots, to needy children during the holiday season.

 


Heartbreaker guarantees first losing season since ’95

Missouri Western quarterback Drew Newhart found receiver Adam Clausen in the back of the end zone with 16 seconds remaining when the Griffons defeated the Mavs 16-14 Saturday afternoon. UNO had scored  1:24 earlier to take a 14-10 lead, but couldn't hold it as Missouri Western drove 64 yards in seven plays to take the lead for good.

 


Contemporary poet brings poetry to life at UNO

Contemporary poet Matthew Zapruder read in the Dodge Rooms of the Milo Bail Student Center on Nov. 3.  He visited UNO as a part of the Missouri Valley Reading Series, which welcomes poets as well as authors of fiction and non-fiction to travel and read their works.


FBI investigation links five shootings to one gunman

Five shootings at military bases in Northern Virginia in the past three weeks now have been linked to the same shooter, leading to concern that the suspect may be targeting the U.S. Marine Corps.

Environmental section adds to Omaha landscaping

The Omaha Planning Board voted unanimously Oct. 6 to recommend approval to add an environmental section to the city's master plan. Environment Omaha,  a collaborative effort between the City of Omaha, the public and Omaha by Design, prepared the document.
