Carol Adam, an administrative office associate for the Department of Teacher Education, was recognized for her ability to go above and beyond through earning UNO’s Employee of the Month award for August 2022.
Adam received the award for exceeding the expectations of her job’s responsibilities in support of a colleague, including the additional responsibilities with student recruitment and hiring new faculty to the department.
“While our department has been shorthanded this past semester and a half, Carol has taken on additional responsibilities and done so without complaint,” one nominator said. “Her efforts have allowed our department to continue to run smoothly without any disruption.”
Acknowledged for several notable actions, nominators concentrated on Adam’s attention to detail. Specific examples included ensuring professors in the department had copies of their textbooks for the semester, while also guaranteeing the department’s adjunct faculty had the resources needed to be successful educators.
“She is reliable, dependable, and is a tremendous resource to our department,” a nominator said. “She works with professional dispositions and ethical standards daily. She is accurate, detail-oriented, and always acts with discretion and confidentiality.”
Adam’s knowledge of processes and policies proved to be invaluable during the pandemic and the transition back to in-person learning.
“Since being back on campus, she can always be counted on to pitch in and help with a variety of different tasks,” a nominator said. “She is a very valuable part of the Teacher Education Department, the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, and UNO.”
As another nominator stated: “You name it, she knows how to do it.”
Included in her award as Employee of the Month, Adam received a certificate, a hot/cold tumbler gifted by the UNO Bookstore, a monetary award, two tickets to a UNO sporting event and use of a designated parking space.
