The Omaha track and field team has been selected to finish fifth in the Summit League preseason coaches’ poll.
In last year’s indoor season championship, Omaha tied with Western Illinois for fifth. Stephanie Ahrens and Taryn Derickson finished second and third in the high jump. The two also were all-league selections.
The Mavericks earned 22 points, putting them ahead of IUPUI and IPFW. North Dakota State was picked to win its ninth consecutive indoor championship that will be held on February 26-27 in Fort Wayne, Ind. Omaha beings its season at the K-State Invitational on Dec. 12.
