Summer drinks: Mix it up

Stop reaching for that Busch Light.

We gathered up recipes for some of our favorite summer cocktails to sip poolside or just to relax after those summer job hours. Catch some rays, invite some friends over and mix a few of these refreshing drinks for those perfect summer nights.

Remember to drink responsibly. We want to see you back here in the fall.

Orange Splash

• 2 oz. Absolut Citron vodka (or other lemon-flavored vodka) 

• 1 oz. Cointreau (or other orange-flavored liqueur) 

• 1 splash lime juice 

• 1 splash orange juice 

• Orange slice garnish

Mint Julep

• 1 oz. minted simple syrup 

• 2 cups crushed ice 

• 2 oz. bourbon 

• Fresh mint sprig garnish

Summer Brew

Makes six servings 

• One 12 oz. can of lemonade concentrate, thawed 

• Three 12 oz. bottles or cans of beer 

• Half a cup of vodka 

• Lemon wedge garnish

Gin & Tonic

• 2 oz. gin 

• 5 oz. tonic water 

• 1 lime wedge

Amaretto Sour

• 1.5 oz. Amaretto Almond Liqueur 

• 1-2 splashes sweet and sour mix 

• Maraschino cherry garnish

Strawberry Lime Moscato Punch

• 1.5 liter of Moscato wine 

• 1 can frozen limeade concentrate, defrosted 

• 1 cup strawberries, diced plus 1 cup strawberries sliced 

• 1 lime, sliced 

• 2 liter 7-Up Blend strawberries and limeade, mix with remaining ingredients

Blue Raspberry Spiked Lemonade

Makes six servings 

• 1/2 gallon prepared lemonade 

• 6 ounces vodka 

• 4 1/2 ounces blue raspberry-flavored vodka 

• Mint leaves

Watermelon Moonshine

• 1.5 ounces Watermelon Vodka 

• .75 ounces Triple Sec 

• .75 ounces Malibu Coconut Rum 

• Pink Lemonade
