Women’s soccer goes 1-1 over weekend
The women’s soccer team split over the weekend, topping IUPUI on Friday and losing to Fort Wayne Sunday. In their Friday night home game, the Mavericks took IUPUI into double overtime with sophomore Lydia Holtmann scoring the game-winner in the 101st minute. Omaha then fell to Fort Wayne on Sunday morning by a score of 2-1. The lone Maverick goal came from Courtney Neville in the 49th minute. Omaha is now 4-8-2 on the season with a 1-3 conference record. The Maverick will host Western Illinois in their next game at 7 p.m. on Oct. 16.
Swimming & diving team wins season opener
The Omaha swimming and diving team opened its season with a victory over conference opponent Western Illinois. The Mavericks won 10 out of 16 events and outscored the Leathernecks 159-127. UNO saw solid performances across the board with several first place finishes. Some of the many highlights included junior Morgan Stepp winning the 1,000 free, sophomore Logan Back taking the top spot in the 200 free and freshman Isabelle Robuck finished first in the 200 fly.
