Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson made opening remarks Saturday morning for Startup Weekend Omaha, which unfolded Sept. 16 through Sept. 18, at Mammel Hall.
Nelson discussed the importance entrepreneurship plays in creating jobs and the role of federal policies in launching startup organizations.
Startup Weekend is a community-building event held throughout the world, according to the event’s press release. The annual event brings together skilled people from many career paths — marketers, software developers, designers, legal experts and other aspiring entrepreneurs — to develop an idea and mold it into an actual business in a single weekend.
The UNO College of Business Administration provided facilities for Startup Weekend Omaha. The Nebraska Business Development Center also partnered on the event.
