Last Saturday night, over 2000 cyclists participated in the third annual Owl Ride. The ride is a fundraising event for UNMC’s Meyer Foundation for Disabilities. The ride started at the Lewis and Clark landing in Omaha and continued through neighborhoods such as Dundee, Aksarben and the Old Market.
With the options of the shorter 7-mile ride and the regular 16-mile ride, the Owl Ride was intended to cater to a broad range of ages. Various snacks and water were provided during and after the ride. Riders wore required gear such as helmets and reflectors that shined brightly during the night ride.
