Maverick baseball swept for second time this season

Game One
Fort Wayne defeats Omaha 5-2, Fox notches career-high 13 strikeouts Junior Tyler Fox will be disappointed with the loss on Friday, but the right-hander did his part, pitching seven innings with a career-high 13 strikeouts. Daniel Jewett and Collin Leif each finished with two hits, game-highs for the Mavericks. Freshman Ryan Cate also recorded his first career home run in the loss. That home run put the Mavericks up 2-0, but they were unable to score again as the Mastadons came back to win 5-2.
Game Two
Mavericks risk sweep with Saturday’s 10-6 loss to IPFW Zach Williamsen took the loss on Saturday as the Mavericks were unable to stop the Mastadons from keeping their win streak going. Omaha had plenty of offensive help as Daniel Jewett, Clayton Taylor and Ryan Cate all had two hits on the day. The Mavericks had the game tied 2-2 in the fourth inning, but IPFW would score eight more on their way to a 10-6 victory. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 10-10 in the conference on the season.
Game Three
Mavericks lose 7-1 Sunday, swept for second time this season.
The Omaha baseball team was unable to win Sunday afternoon and were swept for only the second time this season. Evan Miller had 13 strikeouts in eight innings for the Mastadons, while Brett Sasse got the loss for the Mavericks on only 1.1 innings.  Clayton Taylor led UNO at the plate hitting 2-4. 
A Shane Trevino grand slam in the seventh would break things open for IPFW on their way to a 7-1 victory. The loss brings the Mavericks’ record to 17-23 overall and 10-11 in the Summit League. The Mavericks will finish their season next weekend as they host league-leading Oral Roberts.
