IMPORTANT WEATHER UPDATES:
The Gateway’s Run the Press 5K run/walk fundraiser will be held today.
We are still monitoring the weather forecast closely in preparation for today’s Run the Press 5K run/walk fundraiser at Memorial Park in Omaha. Forecasters said Saturday in the Omaha area should be windy with rain and snow likely and a high in the mid- to upper 30s.
After much deliberation, race organizers have decided that the race should continue as scheduled. Registration and T-shirt pickup starts at 8 a.m. and the race will begin at 9 a.m. near the Memorial Park monument.
We’d like to remind runner and walkers to prepare for the weather, dress warmly and layer up. We will continue to closely watch the forecast Saturday morning and will post on unothegateway.com and will email registrants directly as decisions are made should the weather conditions drastically change.
We understand if you choose not to participate in the run/walk on race day. If you’d like to schedule a different time to collect your T-shirt, you may do so by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org As this is a fundraiser, race fees are nonrefundable.
The money raised in this event will go to support the Gateway, the University of Nebraska’s independent student-run newspaper and website. Your contribution will give countless college students newsroom experience in the fields of communication, public relations, photography, videography, graphic arts, marketing and journalism in its entirety.
As the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s official student-run publication, we rely on the support of local businesses, community partners, and sponsors, like you, to ensure our program can continue.
