The Mavs defeated Texas A&M International 5-1 for Scarpello’s milestone victory before capping the tournament with a 3-2 victory over Central Oklahoma in extra innings.
“The 500 wins just shows we had good teams and coaches,” Scarpello said. “It means a lot being able to do it at one program.”
Katelyn Hinton went 2-for-4 in the opener with three RBIs, including a second-inning home run to help Beth Haley pick up the win for the Mavs. In the afternoon game, Hinton belted her second home run of the day, while Alli Hukill drove in Lindsay Redding in the bottom of the eighth for the winning run.

“We’re looking pretty strong,” Scarpello said in a reference to her team “We had a good weekend, but we can get better.”
