The UNO volleyball team traveled to Denver for the Colorado Premier Challenge last weekend, earning their second win of the season but dropping three others to go 2-10 on the year. The Mavs' lone victory came in a 3-2 set win in Friday's 3:30 p.m. match against Cal Baptist.
The UNO volleyball team played its final competitive home match of the season Tuesday night, losing in straight sets to South Dakota. Before the match, the Mavs honored the personal and athletic achievements of their three seniors- Brittany Hanssen, Emily Myers and Angie Reicks.
That's where the good feelings ended.
The UNO volleyball team began gearing up for a new season with the first of four red/black scrimmages last Saturday. The team also welcomed alumni for their annual matchup with former Maverick players.

UNO volleyball won just two sets all tournament and left the CEFCU Classic in Peoria, Ill. with an 0-3 record to start the season. Friday the Mavs lost a 3-1 match to the University of Illinois-Chicago, came back for another 3-1 loss to Bradley that evening and dropped a 3-0 decision to the same Bradley team the next morning.
UNO Volleyball and Head Coach Rose Shires started 2010 with an 8-1 record using a mix of new players ready to contribute and reliable veterans who had become established as some of the best in the MIAA.
The UNO women's volleyball team faced three Division I opponents last week, sandwiching a home match on Wednesday between trips to Wichita and Kansas City. The Mavs pushed UMKC to five sets on Wednesday, while falling 3-0 to Wichita St. on Tuesday and 3-1 to North Dakota on Friday.
