The UNO volleyball team traveled to Denver for the Colorado Premier Challenge last weekend, earning their second win of the season but dropping three others to go 2-10 on the year. The Mavs' lone victory came in a 3-2 set win in Friday's 3:30 p.m. match against Cal Baptist.
The schedule maker didn't do UNO any favors in the Mavs' opening weekend of Summit League play. South Dakota State and North Dakota State, two teams picked to finish in the top three of the conference, came to Omaha on back-to-back nights.
The UNO volleyball team played its final competitive home match of the season Tuesday night, losing in straight sets to South Dakota. Before the match, the Mavs honored the personal and athletic achievements of their three seniors- Brittany Hanssen, Emily Myers and Angie Reicks.
That's where the good feelings ended.
The UNO women's volleyball team faced three Division I opponents last week, sandwiching a home match on Wednesday between trips to Wichita and Kansas City. The Mavs pushed UMKC to five sets on Wednesday, while falling 3-0 to Wichita St. on Tuesday and 3-1 to North Dakota on Friday.
On paper, the stats show freshman Kelley Wollak is racking up the kills and proving to be one of UNO's best offensive weapons. In her first 12 games of college volleyball, Wollak is second on the team with 101 total kills and averages almost three per set.
