The women's soccer team became the first UNO sport to compete in a Division I contest, falling 2-0 at Wisconsin-Green Bay Friday night. Hekla Palmadottir scored both goals for the Phoenix who outshot the Mavs 23-8 overall and 7-5 in shots on goal.
The UNO women's soccer team needed a win in their final match of the season at Northern Colorado to even their record up at 6-6-2. A goal by the Bears in the 84th minute sealed a 1-0 defeat and denied the Mavs a shot at .500.
The Mavs traveled to Washington last weekend earning a 1-1 draw at St. Martin's on Thursday and falling 5-0 to Seattle Pacific on Saturday. With just one goal on the weekend, UNO is still trying to find a consistent scoring threat on the roster.
A comeback win Friday night and the first-ever home game Sunday highlighted the UNO men's soccer inaugural weekend. In a matchup with two different conference champions from a year ago, the Mavs showed their mettle beating one and having several chances against the other.
