University of Nebraska Omaha administration and faculty will support and offer aid to new Student Body President/Regent Liz O'Connor and Vice-President Bret Harrell, said Chancellor John Christensen at the April 18 inauguration ceremony.
Asperger's Syndrome, or AS, is a common condition part of a larger subset of developmental disorders collectively known as the autism spectrum. Individuals who have AS are often very intelligent and have focused and narrowly defined interests, but have difficulty understanding and interpreting social cues, such as tone of voice and body language. Often they seem aloof, uncaring or even rude, when in reality they simply don't understand. They must be taught the social skills that their typically developing peers learn naturally, which can be a laborious process.
Spring break is time away from the obligations of school. For many students, it's a vacation back home. For others it is a great chance to put in extra hours at work and get a good paycheck. Other students use it to get ahead on schoolwork as the semester end draws near. However, at UNO there's a large group of students who spend their break volunteering to help others. This year marked the 10th anniversary of 7 Days of Service.
