The UNO men’s basketball team beat the Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves 65-49 Saturday in front of 473 fans at Sapp Fieldhouse. It was the first regularseason game for the Mavs, who were coming off a 102-72 exhibition loss to Michigan State last Monday. UNO senior guard Tyler Bullock led the Mavs with 24 points on 9-16 shooting from the field. The 2010-2011 First-team All- MIAA selection also added seven rebounds, five assists and four steals in 31 minutes of play.
Senior guard Jeff Martin was 3-for-8 from three-point range to total nine points for the Mavs, and senior forward Matt Starks chipped in eight points and five rebounds in the winning effort.
The Mavs shot 18-for- 27 from free-throw line and were out-rebounded 34-39. UNO held Wesleyan to 2-for-20 shooting from three-point range and 18-for-58 overall.
The Prairie Wolves were led by 6-foot-8 inch senior center Dylan Aylward, who scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
The Mavs begin Division-II play on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. when they take on Rockhurst at Sapp Fieldhouse.
