Aksarben Village recently hosted ARTsarben, an outdoor festival featuring an eclectic blend of art and pageantry.
Now in its fourth year, ARTsarben flexes its muscle as a space for fun and creativity.
The art festival showcased about 70 different artists, whose work ranged from textile designs and jewelry to pencil drawings and paintings. The kaleidoscope of talent spread across Aksarben Village’s main street included food truck offerings to complement the nearby restaurants.
New this year to the festival was the Emerging Artists category. Four local artists participated in their very first juried art show. Two of the Emerging Artists — Kelly Bast and Sam Taylor — are University of Nebraska at Omaha students.
The festival also featured on-site art classes for the first time.
The artists’ work was as accomplished as it was varied, and gave all visitors a chance to stop and smell the artistic roses in an area that can be easy to pass by.
